Cherry Red’s 80s Punk & Psychobilly catalogue featured on Greek documentary ‘2917: Back To The Top’

Directed by Stratis Chatzielenoudas, 2917: Back To The Top is the title of a forthcoming Greek documentary about a 32-year old punk rock paraplegic and his friends, and their efforts to climb the highest peak of Mount Olympus.

The soundtrack boasts a suitable who’s who of 80s Punk and Psychobilly – including Cherry Red-owned tracks by Blitz, The Meteors and Peter & The Test Tube Babies.

Kim Wilde’s ‘Kids In America’ to feature on 3 Identical Strangers film soundtrack

Kim Wilde‘s timeless debut hit ‘Kids In America’ (No. 2 UK, No. 25 US, 1981) is due to appear in another soundtrack.

3 Identical Strangers has the strapline: “There’s no-one else on Earth quite like you. Or is there…?”

Produced by Raw TV, the film is set in 1980 New York, when three total strangers, 19-year olds Robert, Eddy and David, make the astonishing discovery that they were identical triplets.

Cherry Red acquire rights to Jade & Marian Segal’s ‘Fly On Strangewings’

Back in 1970, folk-rock band Jade – fronted by singer Marian Segal – issued their sole album, Fly On Strangewings, for DJM Records.

It sold modestly at the time but has subsequently become considered an Acid Folk classic, attracting huge sums on vinyl and revered by connoisseurs of the era.

Cherry Red now represent the rights for this masterpiece, which has been reissued this month as an expanded 3-CD edition on the Cherry Tree label.

Cherry Red acquire Be Bop Deluxe catalogue

In the mid-Seventies lull between Glam Rock and Punk, Be Bop Deluxe epitomised a new breed of Art Rock bands.

Led by Bill Nelson and signed to the fashionable Harvest label, the band mixed Progressive Rock leanings with melodic songs across five acclaimed studios albums and a live double LP between 1974 and 1978: Axe Victim, Futurama, Sunburst Finish, Modern Music, Live! In The Air Age and Drastic Plastic, most of which troubled the UK Top 30.

Be Bop Deluxe also scored a pop hit with ‘Ships In The Night’ (No. 23, 1976).

Cherry Red now representing Survival Records catalogue

Launched in the early 80s, Survival Records carved a stylish niche with several acts who blended Synth Pop and Indie in varying measures.

Among them were Indie pop favourites Furniture, New York electronica pioneer Richard Bone, male/female duo Eddie Maelov & Sunshine Patterson and now collectable Synth Pop acts such as Jeanette, Play and Thirteen At Midnight.

Cherry Red now represent the Survival Records catalogue.

Alien Sex Fiend featured on Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare

The Call Of Duty franchise is one of the most iconic and successful in gaming history – and the soundtrackis a significant part of the whole experience.

The new Infinite Warfare release, released last November and the 13th in the series, includes a Cherry Red track, ‘Now I’m Feeling Zombified’ by 80s Goth heroes Alien Sex Fiend.

On-U Sound label material now available for licence

Adrian Sherwood’s On-U Sound label created some of the most forward thinking, experimental Reggae of the early 1980’s.

A new 4-CD box set on Cherry Red’s Hot Milk label boasts the fourth instalment of the Singers & Players series, two Creation Rebel albums and the other planetary compilation of industrial reggae experiments, Wild Paarty Sounds Vol.1.

All are available for license for vinyl and track reissue.

Cherry Red now representing the Mock Turtles’ Imaginary recordings (1987-1990)

Fronted by Steve Coogan’s brother Martin, The Mock Turtles came to prominence around 1990 at the height of ‘Madchester‘, alongside fellow Manchester bands the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays.

Cherry Red are proud to represent the Mock Turtles Imaginary recordings from 1987-1990, including indie versions of their hit ‘Can You Dig It?‘ and ‘And Then She Smiles‘ (now the theme tune to TV series Stella), as well as the acclaimed debut album Turtle Soup.
